Angelica Marie is a self-care specialist and the host of the podcast The Tea Corner. Her insights have been featured in publications such as Shonda Land, and she helps burnout women create a joyous lifestyle through her transformative self care success framework and membership community. Three months into launching her health and wellness company Omekwa, Angelica Marie experienced a depressive episode triggered by the discovery of a benign breast tumor when she was 22. She had tied her self-worth and identity to the performance of her business and outward success, which led to her beating herself up and eventually falling into a bipolar disorder. Through her framework, she hopes to help others transform their self-care and create a balanced and joyous lifestyle.

The conversation discussed the importance of holistic self-care and how it can be used to accelerate physical, emotional, and spiritual health. The speaker shared their own journey of learning to recognize the root of their depression and building a foundation of self-care to overcome it. In order to create wealth, the speaker recommends focusing on the mindset of abundance, being conscious of any negative thought patterns, and knowing how you would use and share your wealth. Wealth should be tied to a purposeful action and not seen as a status symbol or reflection of one's worth.

Magic Barclay:

Welcome back to a Magical Life. I'm your host Magic Barclay. Today I am joined by Anngelica-Marie Eshesimua and she's talking about holistic self-care. Let's find out a little bit about Angelica Marie. She's on a mission to change the way we approach self-care. She believes that it should be a holistic, joyous, and balanced lifestyle, not just a one-time fix with hundreds of hours of research on personal development and fulfillment. Under her belt, she shares her teaching in a. Accessible way through her podcast, the Tea Corner. Her insights have been featured in multiple publications, including Shondaland. We'll have to ask what that one is. As a self-care specialist, Angelica Marie can help any burnout woman create a joyous lifestyle through her transformative self-care success framework and membership community. Welcome, Angelica.

Anngelica-Marie Eshesimua:

Hi magic. I'm so excited to be

Magic Barclay:

here. Thanks for joining us. Now, tell me there's a bit going on here. What's

Anngelica-Marie Eshesimua:

Shondaland? Yes, so Shondaland is a website and media publication that was founded by Shonda Rhimes. She did a lot of iconic shows like Grey's Anatomy, scandal, those shows. So she created that publication and they have a wellness section, and I was able to share my journey, conquering my three month long depressive episode through my frameworks.

Magic Barclay:

Three months long depressive episode. What triggered

Anngelica-Marie Eshesimua:

that for you? Yes. So at the time I was in my first year of launching my health and wellness company, EKK. Um, I was in the entertainment industry, but I wanted to completely shift my focus after the discovery of a benign breast tumor when I was 22. so I was hitting a lot of walls that naturally come up when you're an entrepreneur, and I tied a lot of my self-worth and identity. In, you know, the performance of my business and outward success. So I really beat myself up and, and fell into this episode, um, which was the onset of my bipolar two disorder. and it took me a while to really learn what was the root of. You know, the harmful thoughts that I was having that was triggering the suppression and really learning how to build a foundation of holistic self-care for myself, to bring myself out of it and just create structures in my life to prevent it from happening again.

Magic Barclay:

Fantastic. Thanks for sharing that and being so open. Now I ask the same three questions of all of my guests and everyone gives me a different answer and I'm really looking forward to your answers here. So the first question is, what can your expertise do to accelerate health, not just physical, but emotional and spiritual?

Anngelica-Marie Eshesimua:

Yes, so the key there is that our emotional, physical, and spiritual health are all interconnected. You cannot focus on one without focusing on the others and what my self-care success. System is and does is really help you find that wellness routine that is specific to you and gets to what I believe is the root of having a successful just wellness lifestyle, which is being rooted in your purpose, your why. I've noticed just through, you know, building my own. Lifestyle of wellness, reading, so many books that I've come across to, you know, build my journeys, that when we go through life not rooted in our purpose or not being connected to what we are doing with our time connected to our communities, it makes it very hard for. To instill the daily healthy habits, which I believe is emblematic of physical care, to really rewrite our stories to one of empowerment rather than, you know, the harmful stories that we are taught, when we're growing up. And then, you know, just to enrich ourselves spiritually through being authentic, connecting with our community, and sharing our gifts and purpose with them open.

Magic Barclay:

That's a beautiful answer. Thank you. Now we talk about wealth here as well. So you know, people focus on wealth being financial, but it can be personal wealth or emotional wealth. So what are your top three tips to creating any kind

Anngelica-Marie Eshesimua:

of wealth? Yeah, I realize the biggest thing is that you have to. Know what your mindset is towards all aspects of wealth. Um, because essentially wealth is abundance. And I really love to share a specific book that's a favorite of mine, called Secrets of the Millionaire Mind by t Harv Ecker. and although it does touch on the monetary aspects of wealth, Ecker really goes into the fact that. We need to be conscious and aware of any negative thought patterns, that we have that kind of. You know, restrict us and limit us from feeling joy, from feeling abundance, from feeling expansive. I think off the top initially people are like of, no, of course I want money. Of course I want love, of course, I want an abundance of emotional health. when you really get into the daily actions that we take, if we believe in ourself, if we dedicate ourselves to. To building a life where we can experience and share abundance openly. You know, if we don't take the time to self-reflect, it's gonna be really hard to acquire and maintain, that abundance in all areas of your life.

Magic Barclay:

Great. And are there any other tips that you would pop in there for wealth?

Anngelica-Marie Eshesimua:

Yes. I'd say a big tip for me is really knowing how you. Use and share your wealth. wealth should be tied to, you know, a purposeful action, not just to have its accumulation. You know, if you say you, you want, a wealth of financial resources, how would you use them? How would you experience it? How would you share it and give it back to your community, when you. Wealth from the aspect of enjoyment and sharing and investing in the things and people you care about Rather, rather, it's seeing wealth as a status symbol or a reflection of your worth. It completely changes your, your energy and relationship to it and makes it easier to acquire all those things.

Magic Barclay:

Fantastic clarification there. I love that. Now we talk about weight here as well. People often battle their weight through one side of the coin or the other, and we know that stress is a major factor in this. Battle. So have you ever battled with your weight? If so, what was triggered to winning that and what do you offer the listeners so that they can really connect with themselves?

Anngelica-Marie Eshesimua:

Yeah, I have battled with my weight when I was in college really. And I didn't even, notice that I wasn't paying attention to my body. And I think that's the key there is paying attention to and being kind to your body. Oftentimes, our stress. Really builds up when we are focused on everything outside of ourselves, whether it's work, whether it's not having boundaries in the relationships in our lives. So what really changed the tide for me was. Making a dedicated stand and promise to myself to focus on my body, be kind to my body and give it what it needs. I would really encourage and always say that, you know, of course it's, it's great to find and have a healthy weight, but not obsess over every pound. It, it really boils down to instilling the, the habitual. Of being in tune with yourself, being aware of your needs and making that consistent. And I truly believe when you focus on that, the weight loss is just, you know, one of the, the benefits and results of doing that.

Magic Barclay:

That's great. I really do love that. Now there's many things that come up with our discussion today, and I really, really would love to delve into this. And you know, one thing is, When we were talking off air, you mentioned taking people from burnout to bright. I really wanna delve into that in our next episode, but for now, we love to offer the listeners here freebies. So what freebie can you offer and where can they find it? Yes,

Anngelica-Marie Eshesimua:

of course. I created a free self-care success assessment, and it's a short about five minute assessment that really just shows you what your core pillar of self-care is, whether that's your body, your mind, your spirit, and gives you five actionable. Tips to really building and strengthening that pillar. And it's truly essential because, you know, implementing these tips and habits really will help you create that foundation of care in your life that can support joy and abundance.

Magic Barclay:

And so where can they find you? Angelica Marie, where will people hunt down all the things that you can offer?

Anngelica-Marie Eshesimua:

Yes, of course. You can take the assessment@www.owa.com. That is O M E K W A, and you can also find OWA on Instagram at OWA Organics. And of course, my personal Instagram Angelica always with two ends.

Magic Barclay:

Thanks so much for sharing all of that with us and it's certainly a very generous offer. So listeners, this was your episode 180 and in 180 1, Angelica Marie will rejoin us talking burnout to bright Angelica. Thank you so much for your time.

Anngelica-Marie Eshesimua:

Of course. Thank you for having me.

Magic Barclay:

And listeners, thank you for your time. Go forth and. Your magical life.
