Welcome back to A Magical Life. I'm your host, Magic Barclay. And today Erin Smith joins us. Erin Smith, also known as that health chick on Instagram, is an avid health and fitness fanatic who is expert trained in health optimization for over 15 years and has worked with world leading health experts, such as Dr. Zach Bush, MD, Dr. Christine Schaffner, Dr. Dan Pompa, Mark Groves, and a list of level celebrity health experts. She is also the founder, producer, and host of What We Crave, the emotional eating summit. After 25 years of struggling with emotional eating, food addiction, and shame fasting, Dr. Erin became obsessed with understanding the root cause of what it is that we really crave. She's on fire for cultivating real, beautiful, honest conversations that provide roadmaps to healing and how to make peace with food and ultimately yourself. Let's talk about this. Erin, welcome.
Errin Smith:Hi, Magic. Thank you so much. Oh my gosh, I love your accent. It just makes my intro sound so amazing. Yeah,
Magic Barclay:it's
Errin Smith:so fun to be here.
Magic Barclay:It's fun to have you here. Let's quickly touch on shame fasting. Now that's something that you mentioned. You've coined, tell the listeners what shame fasting is, please.
Errin Smith:Yes. Well, in a 30, 000 foot view, it was my definition of a health nut. like me and 15 years of holistic health education, that learned about fasting and then applied it to, lose weight very quickly because I was, in a lot of shame about my emotional eating. Weight gain fluctuation because I was this health expert and yet I was struggling. And so I would go on these bone broth fasts, which bone broth fasts are amazing, but I was using it as a, as a crutch to just kind of kickstart my weight loss. Once I. I gained the weight again over and over again. I just, I would be like, Oh, I'm going to do a fast this month because it's really healthy when really I was just embarrassed that I had put on weight and I couldn't figure out what was going on with me. So yeah, that's what I called it.
Magic Barclay:I'm glad you mentioned that. And I can really relate as someone in functional health and in the natural health space. You know, I could be 30 kilos overweight or I could be 30 kilos underweight and I've been Both at various times, but certainly now being a heavier person on the scales, people say, well, why should I listen to you? Because look at your weight, I guess for me, the difference is I know what's behind my weight, but there have been those times where I've done like a three month water fast or a juice fast or, you know, done whatever. And. I find it really hard to explain to people, the more you diet, certainly in menopause times, the more you smash out the exercise, the more your body thinks you're in danger. So doing those savage things to yourself actually puts weight on because your body goes, Well, crap, now what I'm dying. Uh, so, you know, let's just put that out there that whatever weight you are at the moment listeners is the weight that you need to be. And what you need to address is the root cause. Let's just put that out there.
Errin Smith:Amen, sister. I couldn't agree with you more. And, I, I know a lot of my friends going through the same thing where they had, a trauma in their life at a young age, and they have struggled to lose weight ever since. And just, or just certain things in life that, that they, something got messed up, their metabolism got messed up, or they had a life crisis and their health got, you know, something happened and they get judged a lot. And, um, It is the ultimate humbling experience and the ultimate just compassion to, I mean, never judge anyone because you just never know what they're going through. And I learned that definitely on my own through what I experienced that, um, I was the most healthiest that I'd ever been with the knowledge and the protocols. And yet I was, you know, The most dead inside I'd ever been because I wasn't addressing all the things that had nothing to do with diet, you know And I was the heaviest I'd ever been because I was a jerk I wasn't paying attention to the emotional component the other stuff that has nothing to do with food and you know I had so much inflammation in my system and I would put on weight But I knew I knew all the healthy things I was doing it perfectly and it still wasn't Uh, my body wasn't, working with it because there was something else going on. And so always, always, always have compassion a thousand percent for yourself because there's a reason for that in your life. There's a purpose in it, but also with, you know, everyone's going through something and just to have compassion for everyone is, is crucial. So yeah. Thank you for saying that.
Magic Barclay:Okay. So I have a standard three questions and everyone gives me different answers and I know we're going to be on the same page with these. So I'm, I'm really excited. Here comes your first one. What can their expertise do to accelerate health, not just physical, but also emotional and spiritual health?
Errin Smith:Yes, by the way, I love all these questions. They're amazing. Um, I'm all about going deep and going fast on going right to the point. So I love this. So I can honestly say this just from my experience and from doing what we crave that, we think that health starts with the outside and goes in when really it's from the inside out. And. Looking for me as the health nut, the health chick, I started with the physical. I was like, superfoods, and, you know, like, look at all these amazing supplements you can take and all that, which is great, and we can talk about that. But, accelerating your health is from the inside out, not the outside in. Even though there's a gateway to health that, like, it might be, you know, some great, kale smoothie that you get got hooked on and it changed your life. And that was the gateway into everything. Like we all have our awesome things that we experienced that give us so much hope and inspiration. But that was where I felt that's where I. went wrong is I ended up focusing on all the physical and all the supplements and all the superfood and all of this is this and the protocols and the you know Just everything that was all physical and I completely missed the emotional and the spiritual and that is what I realized when I hit my rock bottom in my life where I was at the unhealthiest as far as mental, physical, emotional. I was in my just shit storm, you know, of life crawling through emotional quicksand every day, that rock bottom. It was because I had missed the emotional and the spiritual, and I wasn't paying attention to either one of those. And emotional is the strongest out of all of them. They, that carries more power than anything. I think from what I've seen is you can have the most perfect diet, You could be the most perfect in every way. I mean, what is perfect, but you know what I mean? And then but you're not looking at the emotional and it can tank your life so fast Um, or you're not looking at the spiritual that can take your life as well So they're all integrated but the emotional is the strongest and the emotional leads to the spiritual which then leads to the physical So they are all connected and when I started integrating all of them That's when Everything changed, but the emotional was the strongest. And so I think if you want to accelerate your health, get into the emotional root causes of what's really going on, which is what I learned on what we crave. and then that connects you to the spiritual, which, which then when you start changing those and you start, caring for yourself in a different way than the physical, I feel like really starts to change versus the other way around.
Magic Barclay:Fantastic. And our second standard question is around wealth, not just financial, but also personal and emotional wealth. I know from my own life story, my emotional wealth was really flagging the whole time, and it's probably something that maybe in the past, four years I've really only achieved. So what are your top three tips to creating any kind of wealth?
Errin Smith:Yeah, top three tips. And this can kind of tie into the last question, which I can totally expand, on what I did personally to, to really create all of the change. But, uh, I think wealth again, going back, what is wealth, right? To me, wealth is health. Wealth is The quality of life and being able, I think, to live the life the way that you want to live it on your terms and living it all out, fully vibrant, all in life, just on fire, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, relationships. Purpose like that is wealth to me. It has nothing to do with money because you can have all the money in the world and you might be the most miserable person ever, right? There's a lot of people that we know that are like that, right? And for me, I think when I lost my health, I lost everything. I actually had a freak accident, had a grand mal seizure, brought me to a lot of clarity in my life a long time ago before I even got into health. And when you lose your health. there's a quote, healthy people have a thousand wishes and sick people only have one. And that's to get, get their health back. Cause again, you don't have anything if you don't have health. So I think wealth is health. Wealth is quality of life and living it the way you want. So for me, what I learned from what we crave is, well, there's a lot of things that can cause that you can get to, you know, to this, like living the way you want. But for me, I noticed from all the 50 interviews that I did with what we crave. That it goes really, really, really, really deep, from, uh, living life on your terms. And for me, looking at physical, mental, emotional, spiritual is, is the pie, right? And fully developing yourself in all of those areas. I think that's what brings real wealth and then actually doing the work. And so for me, it was years and years of, you know, learning and learning the protocols and learning the tools and learning the supplements. And, but the real work that actually brought change in my life that actually brought like wealth from a monetary standpoint, but also everything else that I wanted to manifest in my life was actually doing the work. So digging into all your triggers, all your childhood, you know, stuff that happened to you, all your stories of just all the stories that your mind makes up that, you know, keeps you stuck. looking at your, inherited trauma from your parents and what they went through and their scarcity mindset with, you know, their life and seeing how that impacted your mindset around money. Looking at, again, just your history of your health and how you can improve it physically, uh, with better nutrition, um, detoxing, fixing your gut, just. looking at every single area in your life and going deep and then actually doing the work. So it's one thing to learn, but then actually digging in and making those changes. And I think underneath all of that, this is again, going layers, layers deep. I think underneath all of that is worthiness and realizing that you are worth the most amazing life because you showed up here and you're here on purpose. And. You didn't just show up just to show up. Like your soul came into this earth, came into this planet for a reason, and you are worthy of an amazing life of amazing health, of having everything you want. but it all starts you feel that you're worth it. And so to me, worthiness is at the core of everything. And that's when I really looked at myself and how I saw my worthiness. And then I realized, Oh my gosh, I'm a soul here on purpose that came here. To show up with with medicine for the earth like we all did that's when I noticed things started to change because I was like I am Oh, I see myself now and now okay now let's go like I love myself more. So I'm gonna implement All this health, good health, nourishing health stuff for my physical self, then I'm going to go into the spiritual. And then I'm also going to look at my emotional health and look at my triggers and actually go in and repair, you know, that, that issue with my mom and my sister that we never talked about. I'm going to actually make a change and I'm going to bring it up next time. We're going to talk through it. Like where you just start to life starts coming at you in layers and you just start, you start uncovering your own layers. And then you also start working on all the other layers that. you just know you got to work on and then that's, I think what life starts to shift. So if you start showing up for life, life will start showing up for you. And then that's when the magic really starts happening is, so I know that's kind of a really extra firehose deep dive, but I hope that makes sense, but That's how I created wealth in my life full in live in life. The way I wanted to was just starting with worthiness, leaning into my purpose and leaning into that emotional, physical, spiritual, all those buckets, and just getting as much knowledge as I can and implementing doing the work. So yeah. And like, not just learning, but actually doing it. So there's a lot of tools and techniques that I have that I've learned on what we crave. There's a lot of amazing supplements that I can mention for every single, you know, physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, like there's so many tools and so many awesome things out in the world. But I think that's That's what brought me, that's what brought it full circle for me.
Magic Barclay:Fantastic answer. I love it. Now that kind of leads us into the final standard question and you've already touched on it. So as coaches, people often say, well, you've never battled your weight. What would you know? So how did you win the war with your weight just in a nutshell? And, you know, we were talking a little bit about my weight is cortisol weight. So if I stress about the tiniest thing I put kilos on, so how can you offer the listeners some tips around managing stress while they're on their weight loss journey?
Errin Smith:So good. Okay. So cortisol was what happened to me too. Um, that, that sort of. Made everything crumble, to the ground where I really had to, really had to take a deep, a deep dive on what was going on. So I totally understand. I wish I had a picture I could show everyone, um, how bad the inflammation in my face got. that I look like I was dead inside in my eyes, like I was just numb and dead inside. And yet I was at the peak of my career of like, you know, 10 years of like knowledge and VP of sales. And I just, I was probably 35 pounds overweight. And that's a lot for me. Cause I work out really hard and, uh, you know, which was probably part of the problem, but, uh, I work out really hard. And so. You know, for me that was a lot and I'm also very tall and like I eat really healthy. So you can, you can see where 35 pounds of stress is a lot for me. But I hit it really well cause I'm tall. So where it really started to build up in me was in my, my face. And I just got really puffy my gut. I looked like I was about six, seven months pregnant. I had leaky gut really bad because my stress was so high. So I was again, VP of sales. what happened was I started traveling East coast to West coast once a week, with a three hour time change back and forth and working about 12 to 14 hour days. Um, and I was sitting all day with working for a narcissist that just made me viscerally explode, like rashes all over. she was verbally abusive, mentally abusive and, um, the, the, how I got into that mess is a story in itself, but, it happened and it brought me to my purpose. So I know it's for a reason, but my cortisol was so high, I would, number one, I'd be sitting all day. So I couldn't process my stress. It was just sitting and just kind of vibrating inside of me all day to where I couldn't even breathe. I couldn't even talk. I was just like, like she'd call me on, on my phone and, uh, my whole body would flare up. it was nuts. It was the most insane situation. And then my sleep was deprived because I was on East Coast, West Coast time. So getting up at, 6 a. m. You know, Florida was really 3 a. m. And I'm trying to squeeze out a workout and do a spin class at 3 a. m. So I'm basically stressed out, sleep deprived, and hungry all day because of the cortisol spike and the sleep deprivation. And I was trying to just soothe myself. So I would eat all day. And that was when keto was, you know, really popular. So I would eat. Eat all the keto fat bombs and the keto this and the keto that and just tons of fat, tons of nuts, which again, there's nothing wrong with keto. I was using it to soothe and to numb out and to just try and cope. because that doesn't make you fat. Well, yes, it does. If you have buckets of it, yes, it will. And your gut will blow up because it can't digest that much fat. And it just, it just exploded. So the stress of just stress in general made my gut leak, plus the amount of oil and fat I was trying to digest, plus the lack of sleep. And I would have a wreath retol, which, you know, is in those keto snacks and so my gut would just end up just exploding because that wrecks your gut microbiome and it makes you so bloated. So I was like giving everything, doing everything wrong, you know, as far as like, just everything that I thought was healthy was not healthy for me. And, I remember going, I am so dead inside. I feel numb, but I know I'm going through this for a reason. And I'm going to figure this out. I'm not going to quit. It was literally three months that I'd had that job, maybe even two. And I was ready to peace out. And I didn't, I just remember, I'm going to tough this out. I'm going to find a job that's right for me, but I'm not just going to quit. Like I need to go, there's something inside of this. I need to experience. So I'm going to put this backpack on. I'm going to learn whatever lesson I need to learn. And I'm going to figure this out. And I'm going to get to the bottom of this and then we're going to go from there. And I'm so glad I did as much as it was, it was a year and a half of that experience every day, day in, day out. And that is when I was at my, my heaviest. That's when I was at my worst. And, um, again, the photos of me, I look like a completely different person. And that was at the, my highest point in my career with the best knowledge of everything. And I wasn't looking at, the emotional stuff. So I, that's when I started to build what we crave. So I said, I am numbing out with food all the time. I am something's going on with me that has nothing to do with the food. Cause I'm, I know that I'm eating way too much and I'm always hungry. And I know, I know that something else is up. What the, what the hell is going on with me? Like I know better than this and I'm still doing it. This is a pattern I've been doing my whole life. It's now bottom rock tanking me to the point where I need to actually really start to dig into this and so What changed it for me was? From a cortisol standpoint. I was already taking supplements for stress So and that wasn't even doing anything so and this is one of the best products for stress so The number one product is Nanolene. I've ever tried. Um, that's one of the companies I used to work for. I don't get paid for saying that. Let's put a pin in that and I'll come back and explain that one. Cause that one's a game changer for stress. Clinically proven to reduce cortisol makes you feel amazing. Uh, I was drinking like five of those a day that wasn't doing shit. So you can tell my cortisol was still struggling. Um, it was, it was rooted deeper. So back to our, you know, what we were talking about earlier, it was, it was rooted in one, my own personal boundaries. And two, You know, her as a narcissist, as an abusive boss, I needed to step away from that. And then I also needed to get myself basically out of that and into peace. So I toughed it out for a year and a half, started building the interviews for what we crave. and then I finally got a job offer a year and a half later, took it and got out and my mom had a stroke. So it forced me to move closer to my mom, which then led me to be able to not go back to that office. And so I was able to get out of that office, get out of the job eventually and get myself into peace because from a cortisol standpoint. you have to be able to get out of the root cause of what's causing the stress. Now, if you can't, there's great things you can do to support yourself, but if you can, you have to, whether that's a toxic relationship, work relationship, family relationship, you have to be able to pull yourself out of that. Another thing that I did was, um, I got myself into nature more and got out of the sitting all day. Okay. Getting out from behind my computer and starting to connect in nature and with humans and getting sunshine and putting my feet in the ground and connecting to the earth and literally just getting outside fresh air, breathing, uh, sunshine, like the, all the elements that are free are amazing for stress reduction. But again, if you're in a toxic job, it's not going to matter much. Right. Cause I was, That was partially me for, you know, my whole life. I was, I was getting nature, but yet I was in this toxic job. So, if you can remove yourself from those situations, if you can't, then there's a level deeper with rooted in, um, boundaries and worthiness. So that's what I realized is that. I could have whatever job I wanted and if I'm, good on the inside, no one can touch me. If I'm confident in who I am, if I have boundaries, if I have, a connection to myself and my power, nobody can touch me. There might be, you know, a client I have that, or a friend or whatever, someone might say something that's awful to you and or you get in a toxic situation and you know when to say no, you know when to have a boundary, you know how to communicate, you know how to speak your voice and speak your truth and they can't touch you because you know that has nothing to do with you. It's, it's, it's them that's going through it, right? And it's them that's, they got, they got their shit that they're dealing with. And so when you can separate and go, I'm not responsible for your emotions. I'm not responsible for you. I'm, I'm going to care, but I'm not going to carry your stuff. I'm not going to try and make you happy. I'm not going to people please. And just make you happy. I wouldn't do any of that. I used to do that all the time. And that's what it was, is I had no boundaries with my boss. I couldn't tell her no. I would stay up till 3, 4 a. m. working on a project. I would, you know, Um, do anything she wanted whenever I would say, yep, I can do that. Oh, and then oh this person just quit Oh, let me just take on their work and put it on my plate. And yeah, I can do that, too Oh, yeah, you need me to do that, too Sure, because I don't have a husband or kids so I can take that on I had zero boundaries. I never could use my voice I didn't even know what worthiness to myself meant. I didn't even know that I was a people pleaser. I didn't even know that I had no boundaries. I just thought I was being a good employee and I was just being like the good, you know, gold star, you know, get my gold star. And I was seeking approval outside myself. And that's what caused all of it was not feeling worthy enough on the inside, which was my own work. And then seeking validation from someone else and people pleasing until I got it. And. Seeming like that was the right thing to do is what ended up tanking me. So once I realized I got, I looked at my worthiness, I got coaching on that. I got coaching on boundaries. I got coaching on my triggers. I got coaching on people pleasing and that you are worthy of sleep. You're worthy of saying, no, you're worthy of all these things. Then that's what actually started to change it for me. And. When I started recording for what we crave, it was almost like all of the, the interviews that I had, everything started to, like wired my brain in a way because I was interviewing all of these people all the time. And I just started learning all of these techniques and all these tools. And then, and once I integrated all of that and I got myself out of my toxic job and I started just focusing on nourishing versus neglect. And I, I didn't even measure my, I wasn't even weighing myself. The weight just came off because I started looking at the deeper stuff. And I started cooking from home. I started, um, I stopped going out to eat cause a lot of those restaurants had toxic oils. Um, they have toxic like seed oils, which are highly inflammatory. So I started cooking from home using avocado, olive oil, things like that. Um, started sleeping. And started doing all the things that brought me peace from the inside out, not the outside in. And that was, that was how my weight came off. And it didn't happen quickly, but I noticed You know, it wasn't like, Oh, I lost 10 pounds in like 10 days. It wasn't like that. It was just, it was like these, as I was shedding my own layers, my weight came off too. You know, as I was shedding my layers of like my insecurities, my worthiness, my people, pleasing all that old identity, the weight came off with it. And granted I've worked on my gut health. I worked on sleep. I worked on, you know, there's some physical things I did, but it was all emotional. It started, it started there and it started with learning and becoming aware of it. And, um, And so that's, that's my story of how, how I, I found my peace. I think weight loss is just finding peace from the inside out, honestly. cause your body will change. once you can figure out what's going on, the body is a miraculous machine and it can absolutely heal. It's just getting deep into those roots of what's really going on. So that's my deep dive.
Magic Barclay:Okay, so you mentioned Nanolene, what is that and what are some other products that people might be looking at if they're in that kind of cortisol weight roller coaster?
Errin Smith:Yes. So Nanolene, there's a few products that are amazing. One, Nanolene is one of my favorites, because it tastes really good and it makes you feel amazing. it's one of the companies I used to work for, companies called Biopharma Scientific. They're out of San Diego, California. It's a, it's actually a practitioner line that, so it's very high quality. It's not something you're going to find at a grocery store. It is high quality. And that's what I'm all about. The high quality. Does way more amazing things and a less quality, less expensive version. So always go for the better quality. But, it is a five in one product and the formulators from France. So he's a genius and he makes everything taste good. And it's organic non GMO sweetened with stevia. Like the highest quality. I've never found anything better. And I've, we, I've done so much research on all these products from working for the company. I, I'm actually drinking it right now. If you can see this, um, it's like a light pink. It's a berry flavor. I put it in a shaker cup with ice and water. And all it is, is um, green tea, B vitamins, chromium fiber. There's a fat burner, a natural fat burner in it and ashwagandha, a clinical dose of ashwagandha. So in a nutshell, what this does is, you know, when you get those mid morning, mid afternoon slumps, where you get really hangry and you're like, I just want something refreshing. I want to drink of some kind. But like, I don't want to pay 7 at Starbucks for something nasty, you know, not to rep on Starbucks, but you know, or, you know, it's something that's going to just make you feel like crap. You know, this something that's clean, but like refreshing and I just want to get my stress down. And I, maybe you're on a plan where you're trying to not snack as much, you're doing intermittent fasting or something where you're just getting the, I want something and you want something sweet. That's going to curb that sweet tooth. That's where that comes in. It's a cure for the hangries, but I, I use it whenever. Um, but what it does is it, uh, it's clinically proven to reduce stress with ashwagandha, which is an adaptogenic herb. So it's going to, that regulates your stress. So if you're really stressed out, it's going to bring you down and just make you feel. Calm and just like woosah, but if you're also in a funk and you're kind of irritable and kind of in a depressed funky mood It's going to bring you up and help you feel balanced and just kind of just happy So a lot of people use it as a as a substitute to help with depression too because ashwagandha is amazing And again, it's a high end clinically proven nutraceutical in this one. So you feel it immediately. It's got really great absorption. So it goes right into the system. So not only does your mood change, but you get the green tea and the B vitamins. So you get this beautiful clean energy. Then you have a fiber in it. So you stay full. Then you have a natural fat burner from green coffee bean extract. Which is clinically proven to reduce body fat. So it just has a little kicker in there to help kind of jumpstart your, your, uh, your goals. and then chromium, which regulates your blood sugar. So instead of taking like 10 different supplements, you can take one and it tastes delicious, especially on a hot day. or when you're traveling and you're on an airplane and you just feel funky, like it comes in, in every single situation. When my mom, uh, had a stroke, I was chugging this in the hospital because it was such a high stress situation. I just was like, I gotta, I gotta stay calm and grounded. And, it was just a great, um, Sidekick, and I would highly recommend that it's a little over a, I think a dollar per stick pack. So very, very inexpensive and very high value and you just feel awesome on it. And that was the first thing I noticed when I started taking that, just How much lower my stress was and how easy it was, to lose weight because when your cortisol is high, you can't burn fat. You'll, you'll store it as, as you know, and as we all know, so you have to get the cortisol down. Another thing you can do is sleep it doesn't matter what supplement you're taking, if you're not sleeping, everything, it is the gateway, I think. And I'm sure you can agree. Sleep is everything. It is the number one thing that can either mess everything up or give you everything you want. It has a domino effect in every direction. So if you can, if you can get good, deep sleep, your cortisol will go down. It is, I know when I wasn't sleeping, my cortisol was through the roof and there is, I interviewed Barton Scott with Upgraded Formulas. Again, I don't get paid to say this is just pure love and pure value to help anyone that's struggling with sleep. Their magnesium, It's one of the best magnesiums and I'm a health snob when it comes to quality. Best sleep of my life, deepest sleep. I didn't even know I could get that good of deep sleep and wake up, waking up refreshed using it. I don't know. I was at least like a month and I was like, Oh my God, I feel like I don't even need coffee in the morning. I called Barton. I'm like, what, what is this? Like I'm officially a fan. He's like, it's just really high quality stuff. It's actually getting into your cells. And yeah. You know, I didn't, I wasn't groggy. I just felt amazing. And I woke up and my, I could just tell my weight loss naturally was kickstarting with that as well, because I just wasn't getting deep REM sleep. Like when you can get really good sleep, magic happens. So that will drop your cortisol as well. Highly recommend that. Another thing is working on your gut health. because a lot of times, if you don't have good gut health, that affects your sleep as well. And gut health is like the center of the universe for everything. So you have to look at gut health as well. It's another pillar. So I interviewed Zach Bush, um, with ion gut health, and that's clinically proven to seal up all the leaks in the gut, turn on the gut, like a Christmas tree and getting it all lit up and working. And, um, that was a huge piece to my inflammation as well. So I would say those are the top. Three, four, stress. slash inflammation. there's one more. GABA is also an amazing supplement to take just to keep your brain nice and calm. but if you don't have GABA, uh, I don't have an actual company to recommend on that one, but the, that's another great one as well. I know when I started taking GABA, my whole brain calmed down. So, um, depending on where you're at, if you're in Australia versus the States, I know sometimes it's harder to get certain supplements. so those are all great options. And also breath work, you know, that's one for free if you can't get access to any of these, um, being able to breathe. I was not breathing at all when I was in my 15 years of my career. because I was working on straight commission and I would just go, go, go, go, go. And I'd never felt safe inside my own body because I didn't know when my bills were going to be getting paid. So I would, Basically never breathe because I was just going all the time and when I learned I interviewed Josh Trent on the power of breath work When you can actually breathe Again, you could be sleeping really well and you could be taking supplements, but if you're not breathing, you know, you're cutting your body off of oxygen. Good luck getting your cortisol down, right? So just being able to take those deep belly breaths and just being able to just breathe will help with that as well. so again, but breath work for me was knowing that I had to actually feel worthy enough to slow down and feel worthy enough to just chill out and take a break and work. 17 to 20 hours a day, you know, so, and becoming aware of how, how important breathwork is. And that's a great free hack. You can look up box breathing, you know, there's all different types of breathwork. Um, Josh had an app or still have an app called breathe where he'll actually walk you through guided, um, breathwork. And that's an amazing, he's just, you just play it and it's like, he's sitting right next to you and he just guides you through it. That's a great hack as well. so those are, I would say all of my top. Top ones. Oh, also, sorry. One more human connection and hugs. That's another one. I wasn't getting, I wasn't hanging out with people in human form. I was on planes. I was in hotels and never hugging anybody along the way. I was away from my family for 10 years. and I realized how much human connection and physical touch had a, uh, impact on my stress. So when I would come home and I would snuggle with my nephews, I would, it's like I was a different person. also I wasn't having sex because I was too busy to date and that's a huge piece of it too. Just actually having physical touch and physical contact. I noticed my once I would actually have human contact, my stress would drop too. So if you can just go hug somebody, that'll help as well. So there's so many things you can do, but. yeah, those are definitely in my top for sure when I lost all of those, I was emotionally eating like crazy.
Magic Barclay:Yeah. Perfect. And just on GABA listeners on our website, www. holisticnaturalhealth. com. au, we have our essential oil blends and we do have one that encourages the production of GABA. So definitely jump onto our shop. Okay. Okay. Before we wrap this up. Tell us quickly about the summit, What We Crave.
Errin Smith:Yes. What We Crave was birthed out of my own mess, again, because I had hit such a rock bottom with emotional eating and food addiction. And. so much. numbing out with food that I was like, I got to, I got to actually learn what is going on with me. If I can actually learn and get to the bottom of this, I can change it. So what we crave is 50 or 60 now interviews of it's free, it's free to watch. You just go to what we crave. com and it's all a deep dive in every single. Area of life and health, which is mental, emotional, spiritual, physical, like we talked about. And it's a deep dive on the root causes of what is underneath emotional eating, food, addiction, cravings, numbing with food. It's really numbing in general, you know, um, but it's really what, what is it that we're actually really craving and how to make peace with food and ultimately yourself. Cause that's, that is what it's all about. And. You know, when you said what's, what's, what was the key thing for weight loss, it's, it's making peace with yourself from the inside out and just finding peace, and reconnecting with yourself from the inside out. So it's understanding why we do what we do, and the answers are all there, and you just take it all in. Take it and use it as, you know, tools in your toolbox for your journey and, and everyone usually knows which one they need to do, first, or there's coaches on there. You can work with their supplements. There's just real life stories that are really healing, but it's all a road map to, how to get unstuck and off that hamster wheel. And it's just a beautiful deep dive. It's a very real, raw, honest, deep conversations like the one we're having right now. So just what we crave. com and that's it. And it's being rebranded right now. So in a, in a, by the time listeners listen to this, it'll be done. So you can just jump in and put your email in and then you'll get a link to watch all the, interviews. And that's it.
