Magic Barclay:

Welcome back to a magical life. I'm your host, Magic Barclay. And today, Julian Hayes, the second joins us. Julian is an author and executive health consultant and the founder of executive health. The mission is to help entrepreneurs, executives, and investors monitor their health so they can maintain the edge and enjoy the finer things in life. Julian is also the host of executive health and life. And lastly, he's written over 300 articles with majority published in the world's largest publications, such as Inc, Entrepreneur and Success. Welcome Julian.

Julian Hayes II:

Hello. Hello. Thank you so much for having me, Magic. It is an absolute pleasure. Pleasure to be here.

Magic Barclay:

It's a pleasure to have you here and you're a very different guest for me. I don't have many people talking about technology and health, so I'm excited what we're going to nut out today.

Julian Hayes II:

Well, that's good to hear. I, I, there's nothing more that's music to my ears than to be, uh, someone that's unique and bringing something different. I've guess that's the only child in me right there.

Magic Barclay:

I love it. All right. I ask everyone the same three questions. All the answers are completely different. So here's your first one. And that is what can your expertise do to accelerate health, not just physical, but also emotional and spiritual health?

Julian Hayes II:

First and foremost, it's about giving you back your personal power. A lot of times I think we tend to give our personal power away when it comes to our health, whether it's thinking about our genetics or our background. I'm here first and foremost to instill that personal power and that reminder that you have much more control over things than you may even believe or think at times.

Magic Barclay:

Great. And we talk about wealth here as well, Julian. Many people think that's just the financial, but it can also be personal and emotional wealth, something that all entrepreneurs in my mind should be seeking. So what are your top three tips to creating wealth?

Julian Hayes II:

Well, first and foremost, I know. Know your end point, know what you're actually going after. And I say that because, uh, a lot of times, a lot of our goals and maybe not necessarily what we actually truly want. It's what we think we should want, or maybe even some pressures from society. So the first thing is to know exactly what you want. And the second thing is to seek counsel, whether that's through some sort of coaching or mentorship or just. an accountability group, just don't go at it alone. And the last step is to, it's a book that I really love, it's called The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson. And it's to remember that when you're on this journey of wealth and creating a richer life for yourself, is that results will often be invisible at the beginning. A lot of times you'll be doing things that are beneficial toward that goal, but you may not see a tangible result for that for a long time. But just as it takes. Fruits, vegetables and many other things to sprout from up from up the ground. This is the same thing with the wealth and our goals.

Magic Barclay:

We also talk about weight loss here. Have you ever battled your weight? If so, how did you win that battle? And what can you offer the listeners who might be dealing with this? Also, Recognizing that stress is often a key factor.

Julian Hayes II:

It's patience. So for me, I had to learn it's holding two ideas in one hand. It's to be aggressive, but to also be patient. to accomplish that, what I did was I expanded my time horizon and instead of looking at something as maybe 30 days or 60 days out, I thought If I keep doing what I'm doing right now. A year from now are the odds in my favor that I'm going to be at the weight to have the body I want and each time it's emphatic. Yes, but I just had to expand my time horizon instead of being caught up in this short term moment. Think about the long term. Instead.

Magic Barclay:

Great. Now, tell us about what you do. Technology and health, they're not something that I would, in my mind, pair up straight away. So tell us how you can help people and why you're passionate about it.

Julian Hayes II:

Yeah, I'm, I'm passionate about leveraging technology because it gives us data and insight into how we're living our lives. And a lot of times we can go by how we feel, but the benefit of data is that it doesn't have any biases and it essentially holds up to the mirror. to show that are we doing what we should be doing throughout each and every day to get our goals. And sometimes technology gets a bad rap. I think at times because it's, I think we're afraid of technology because you can get to a point where the technology can't control you. But I always preach the message that you control the technology and you leverage that. I know it's sometimes I've seen people where there may be a little more type A and they get highly neurotic with the technology and then it becomes a detriment instead of a benefit. For the most part, um, technology is just there to assist us and to create a more efficient and effective method to whether that's losing weight, whether that's, you know, Building some lean muscle or whether that's just to build a healthier you.

Magic Barclay:

So many people think health is linear and particularly for entrepreneurs and executives, you know, you mentioned that they're type a personalities often and You know, people on that linear health path will just look at one thing. And I know when I work with people, you know, I teach them wholism, looking at all the systems of the body and how they all integrate. So how do you change someone from that very linear thinking when you're working with them?

Julian Hayes II:

Well, we establish, you know, coming from the business world. A lot of times they're familiar with the KPIs, key performance indicators. So we do the same thing with their health. And, and a lot of times they're surprised that one of those key performance indicators is not their weight. Initially. I don't look at that really. Um, I look at things. More like the intangibles of how's your energy throughout the, how's your energy? Has it been improving? Has your mood been improving? How have you felt just in your body over, you know, the last few weeks and everything. And then of course we have more tangible things where we can look at how's your blood. We can look at different blood work and different tests like that, that we use and those things that we can measure as well. So there's a whole gamut of, of, uh, different markers that, that I use. And weight is not necessarily at the top of the list because a lot of times it can be, it can be a delay depending on where they're coming from and depending on how much weight they have to lose.

Magic Barclay:

So we've covered a fair bit, Julian, what's something that you feel the listeners need to hear today?

Julian Hayes II:

lot of things come to my mind. But I think with the listeners, I just got done running. And so what came to my mind was that, you know, just, just keep going. Just keep going. I think a lot of times, uh, especially people that listen to podcasts, they're pretty ambitious individuals and they're, They're people who they're not lazy by any means. And so a lot of times they don't give themselves grace and they're always looking after the next thing or thinking about the next project. And so they take very little time to celebrate how far they come. So if I can give anyone some advice today, it's just to take a few moments out of the day, maybe journal or something, and just think about how far that you've came from some of your goals. From where you were and then where you are right now.

Magic Barclay:

I think that's really important. We often compare ourselves to, you know, what we were in our twenties or thirties when we get older. And, you know, we might even just compare ourselves to where we were last week, but this week's completely different. So take stock of where you are now and go from there.

Julian Hayes II:

Absolutely.

Magic Barclay:

Okay, Julian. So we've kind of discussed everything here, but we love freebies. What can you offer the listeners and where can they find it?
