Magic Barclay:

Welcome back to a magical life. I'm your host magic barley and I'm today. Again, joined by Lucy. Lou Lucy is host of the Lucy Lou show, which is a fabulous health and inspirational podcast. And she joined us again today to talk about how we can be the CEO of our own lives. Welcome Lucy.

Lucy Lui:

Thank you for having me back. Magic pleasure to be

Magic Barclay:

here. Thank you. Now tell us about this concept of being a CEO of our own life.

Lucy Lui:

Oh, I love this because I love life. I don't know about you. I think life is good. Life is beautiful because we're given this gift and yes, it could be mysterious, but Hey, we get to make history because we are the CEO of our lives, because this is the organization called your life and you are. decision maker. You are the CEO of this life because you get to make decisions, whether it's about the administrative, whether it's about your schedules, whether it's about your finance, how you want to live your life, you get the say. And that's why I always say that you are the CEO of your life. And also the second. Point is its acronym for you're the chief energy of your life. I think this is very important. You can be making a million dollars and you can't sleep at night now. What is that? That wouldn't be a good life. Right? So it's all about having the energy, love what you do. And have fun along the way of living your life so that you have the energy to really do what you want in life. And that's what you call living an epic life by your own design. And there's no right or wrong. Every guru out there is right in their own way. Different ways of living is different for everyone. And remember that you get to choose how you want to design your life. And it, it depends on where your energy flows

Magic Barclay:

definitely. And I think many people feel like they can't be the CEO of their own life, whether it be because. You know, they have a family to look after or a business to run, or they work for someone else. I think a lot of people will come up with these. I don't wanna say excuses, but rationals, I guess, as to why they can't be in charge of their life. So what would you say when someone has one of those blocks come up and they say, well, I can't be the CEO of my own life.

Lucy Lui:

Well, for me. I do think those are excuses, because for example, when my single client tells me that she has no time for something that she truly wants to do, I'm gonna tell her that's an excuse because other women with five kids, 10 kids, I'm sure they have a busier schedule than you. Right. You always have time for what you think is your priority. So. It really comes down to making decisions. It really comes down to knowing your values and priorities. So I really, if you have trouble in this area, I really suggest you to spend some time and journal out your boundaries, your values and priorities, because when you know them. It's so much easier to make decisions because I think making those decisions makes life a lot easier because life is complex, right? It's not, it's not easy, but it can be very manageable if you take the time and energy to weigh your options. And I think feeling those indecisive and self doubt is a normal part of the decision making process. And it's a normal part of life. You doubt yourself having the ability to live the life that you want. You doubt yourself in many. There are signs for you to make choices instead of really going with the true alignment or flow of how you want to live your life. But of course, there are mental disorders where you need to seek help and even so. No many women who have chronic illnesses and they still started businesses and made tons of money and live a beautiful life. So it really comes down to the decision of how you want to live your life. And that's all about mindset, right? Remove those mindset blocks. That's telling you that you can't live a certain way. Even if you don't live it now, you need to have unshakeable faith that you're on your way. There. And if you can make baby steps towards that goal every day, those consistent steps will be miracles. It will be magical at the end because you are the CEO of your life. If you believe it and make the decision to move towards it, even if you're not there, you're going to work towards that goal. And the fun part is you need to have fun along the way. Right? For example, if your goal is to make a million dollars. Okay. First up, make the decision. You have to get there, but. It's of course you don't believe it if you're not even doing anything, trying to move closer to that goal. Right? So you have to start a business. You have to do certain things in order to get there. And also you have to have fun along the way, because as women, you own a business or work for someone else you get burned out. If you just hustle, right. Is a great work ethic, but it only gets you so far and to be the true CEO and to really enjoy what you do, enjoy the process. Have fun. Doing what you do daily. And if you're not having fun, if you're not waking up smiling and feeling that spark, there's always times where you can reset yourself and pivot, it's totally fine because this world need more alive, healthy, energetic people, and you can be that version.

Magic Barclay:

Definitely. And I think something that the listeners need to remember here is that the version of you that is today is a work in progress. It's not the same as tomorrow. It's not the same as yesterday. Don't judge yourself on your past. Don't judge yourself on not reaching, you know, your goals for the future. Judge yourself on the steps that you take today to live an amazing and magical life today because that's what matters.

Lucy Lui:

Yes. And we have all these muscles to build. Um, I don't mean physical muscles yet. You need to do that too. You work out to build your physical muscles, but you also need to build mental muscles. For example, we talked about decision making today. You wanna make faster decisions, start building your decision, making muscle. You can set rules. For example, if you're on social media, my role for myself is that I don't accept any friendship requests from unknown men. I get tons of hundreds of messages and I don't need to waste time thinking about it because I have rules. I'm just gonna hit, reject. Right? Delete. My role for family time is that I don't take client calls on a weekend so that I have plenty of time for family. These are no brainer decisions when I am asked on for a call on a weekend for any reason. So I'm gonna say no, thank you. It's gonna save me so much time. I have rules set for myself for social media, for money, for friendship, family time, et cetera. For all areas of my life. And because I know my values, priorities boundaries beforehand, I have these roles set so that when it comes to decision making in those areas, my decisions are always immediate. I'm not wasting time on thinking and overthinking. I'm just living life.

Magic Barclay:

I love that that's such a great philosophy. And what would you say to the listeners that maybe think something's stopping and something's holding them back from opening up such amazing abundance?

Lucy Lui:

I think yes. Awareness. Right. Do you feel that there is more abundance out there that you're just not fully living up to your potential? If you even feel that little nudge or little voice ever telling you that, let me tell you it's true. You want to keep your mind open to receive more opportunities because opportunities only come when you're open to receive abundance is out there, but are you letting it in your door? Make that decision and give yourself time, but a time limit, start practicing on the small stuff. For example, if you wanna do something set a time for yourself, um, whether it's from the small things like everyday decisions, like having food, what movie to watch when to go out, follow through with these small decisions and repeat. Make promises to yourself and keep them and repeat, that's going to build up your confidence. That's going to train your brain to. Start thinking that you can do hard things and that you are capable of doing more things. And that's when you start making bigger decisions for yourself and in turn, guess what those small steps again is going to add up and it'll be rewarding.

Magic Barclay:

Totally. And something I love to do when I've got a big vision that. Want to get to is I list what those small steps are. And I have a running to do list on my desk. Sometimes I cross things out. Sometimes I decide to redo them. Sometimes I'll look back and go. Yeah, I can sidestep from that step into something else. But somehow, however, it works for you keep track of it, whether it's a vision board with the small steps on there's something you can see, whether it's your to-do list. Like I have, whether it's voice memos to yourself, if you're an auditory learner, whether it's, I don't know, maybe if you are kinesthetic, it might be, you know, certain fragrances or oils that remind you of. Of something that you need to get done, find a way to give yourself those reminders that work with your learning style.

Lucy Lui:

Yes. It's different for everyone, but what's true for everyone is that clarity comes with action. I think so many people wait for clarity before they take action, but it's actually the other way around, no matter where you are at. Move forward. And then you'll see more clarity. You'll see, bigger pictures. You will see more opportunities, right? Once you open it up and start moving forward. So I really love that. I think one of my clients, she said her word this year is forward. And I just love it because if you don't feel like you're accomplishing your goals, that means your goals are too big chunk. It. To even smaller goals, like you just talked about even smaller steps. Once those steps are small enough, it's impossible for you to not reach those steps and these steps add up to big things. And that's the beauty.

Magic Barclay:

I love that. I really do love that. Now, Lucy, how can people find you to work more with.
